When we think about behaviour, many different ideas may come to mind. At its core, however, behaviour simply refers to the actions we take. Walking is a behaviour. So is talking. Practicing emotional regulation, learning, or working toward long-term goals—all of these are behaviours.
At Behaviour Ally, we provide individual and group behaviour consulting, coaching, and a range of behavioural services tailored to both individuals and organizations. Although we are currently a small but dedicated team of one, we plan to expand as needed to meet the growing demands of our clients.
Our services are grounded in the science of Behaviour Analysis, more widely known as Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). ABA is built on key principles, the most foundational being that all behaviour is meaningful and shaped by a person’s unique context and learning history. In other words, we tend to repeat behaviours that bring us comfort, help us avoid discomfort, ensure our safety, or communicate our needs.
ABA is a flexible and effective framework that can be applied to many areas of life. Whether you're working to manage stress, build new habits, develop daily routines, or acquire new skills, behaviour services can support meaningful and sustainable change.
Each service we offer is personalized to your individual needs. However, our process consistently begins with understanding the patterns and context surrounding your behaviour. What triggers certain actions? What outcomes do these behaviours produce? What needs are they fulfilling? With this insight, we collaborate with you to create an action plan aligned with your values and specific circumstances.

FAQs and common misconceptions
-
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the application of the science of learning to understand and improve behavior that is meaningful to the person and those around them. ABA considers how the environment impacts learning. The term behaviour refers to anything a person says or does, including skills and actions needed to talk, play, and live. Behavior can also be private (e.g., thoughts and feelings).
ABA can help increase helpful or functional skills (e.g., communication) and/or decrease behaviours that are harmful or interfere with learning (e.g., self-injury).
ABA intervention uses evidence-based procedures such as positive reinforcement to address a client’s concerns and needs and to reduce interfering behaviour and increase desirable behaviour. Behaviour Analysts practice in a variety of settings with many different client populations.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a broad and diverse field. For a deeper understanding of the scope of ABA, we encourage you to explore the Special Interest Groups (SIGs) listed by the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI), which highlight the wide range of applications within the field:
